Ariana Grande is all over the pop charts and she might cross over to the country genre if she has it her way. During a backstage appearance at our 2016 iHeartRadio Music Festival, the pop star told Elvis Duran of Z100, who was hosting for "ET," that she'd love to bring some of those southern roots into her catalogue if the right opportunity presented itself.

"You know what's so crazy? My grandpa, he always wanted me to do something in the country world," she confessed. "I don't know if that would ever happen [but] if that opportunity comes along, I'd have to say, 'Hell yeah!'"

Even though the pop star isn't really in tune with Sam Hunt or any other contemporary country acts, the 23-year-old titan used to listen to a ton of Dixie Chicks in the car with her dad. "My dad was a really big Dixie Chicks, so that's the most country I've been exposed to," she added.

Despite her focus on the Top 40 landscape, the former Broadway star revealed that she really misses the theater world and is quite excited to for her upcoming supporting role in NBC's "Hairspray Live!" which airs in December.

"I love, love, love, love pop music and I love what I do, and I'm very grateful to be able to do it, but my soul misses theater so much," she explained. "I'm so excited about 'Hairspray,' I have no words. Like, I love it so much. I love being able to be a part of something that, A.) is a musical and B.) also makes people feel good."
