A life-sized bronze statue of late co-founding Eagles member and singer-songwriter Glenn Frey has been erected in "Standing on the Corner" Park in Winslow, Arizona. The statue depicts Frey in the 70's, with his trademark mustache, sideburns, T-shirt, and jeans.
Frey famously co-wrote "Take It Easy" with Jackson Browne, which includes the lyrics, "standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona." The statue was funded by the Standing On The Corner foundation, the City of Winslow, and two local classic rock radio personalities who helped pay the $22,000 cost.
The statue stands near another life-sized bronze statue that looks very similar to Jackson Browne which has stood in the park since the 1990's.
The installation of the statue last week also marked the beginning of Winslow's "Standing On The Corner" music festival. Shops around the statue sell T-shirts, posters, mugs and memorabilia with the lyrics from "Take It Easy" on them.
