It's a tradition for unmarried 25-year-olds to get tied to a chair or lamppost in public, while "friends" throw cinnamon all over you. Sounds awesome right...... 

It dates back to the 16th century, when Danish spice salesmen devoted themselves to the trade and therefore forgot to find themselves a life partner. That apparently meant they ended up on their own, therefore making it a tradition to cover single 25 year-olds in the spice that caused them to be single. Cosmo
