Even at the height of their career, The Chainsmokers are still not afraid to tell it how it is. Weeks after their highly controversial Billboard cover story, Drew Taggart and Alex Pall teamed up with Rolling Stone mag to discuss their recent success with writer Jonah Weiner, but also managed to share their two cents on another chart-topper: Lady Gaga.
During one point in the feature, which was published on Tuesday (October 11), the duo trekked over to Salt Lake steakhouse, where they shared their praise for acts like twenty one pilots, Stromae and Die Antwoord. But the real headline-making excerpt revolves around their talk about Mother Monster's latest release.
"At the steakhouse, a label rep asks what they think about Lady Gaga's single 'Perfect Illusion,'" Weiner wrote. 'It sucks,' Pall says. Taggart, more diplomatic, says, 'She's a great artist – like, Jeff Koons made a sculpture of her.  . . .'"
Still, Taggart agreed with his counterpart's sentiments. "A lot of talented people worked on that song. But  . . .," he continued, trailing off as if he couldn't find a polite way of conveying his criticism.
