Justin Bieber announced on Tuesday he’s taking his “Purpose World Tour” to Latin America. After performing in North America, Europe and Australia, Bieber will put on his show in 10 major Latin American cities, beginning February 15, 2017.
The singer is slated to first perform in Guadalupe and Mexico City, Mexico, before hitting Santiago in Chile and Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. From there, Bieber will perform in Lima, Peru and then Quito, Ecuador. There are also stops in Bogota, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, and his final show in San Jose, Costa Rica on April 24. Tickets for the concerts will first go on sale at justinbiebermusic.com on October 28.
Noticeably absent on this leg of the tour is Argentina. As Gossip Cop reported in May, the Argentinian government won’t allow Bieber perform in the country. He tweeted at the time, “I would like nothing more than to bring the #purposetour there but the Argentinian government won’t allow it. So sorry.” He added in a subsequent tweet, “If things were to change I would love to come but at this time I cannot. For everyone else in South America I look forward to seeing you.”
The superstar has had some troubles with Argentina, including twice being accused of desecrating its flag by kicking it off a stage in Buenos Aires in 2013 and tossing it out the window of his SUV in New York in 2015 when a fan threw at his face. Bieber was also ordered in 2014 to return to the country to testify about an alleged paparazzo assault while he was there in 2013, but he never showed up.
Bieber recently received some backlash for walking off a stage in Manchester, England on Sunday because his fans were screaming too much when he wanted to take a break from singing during the concert and talk to his supporters. He told the fans, “I appreciate love. I appreciate the kind things, but the screaming in these breaks has got to stop… I don’t think it’s necessary when I’m trying to say something and you guys are screaming.”
Bieber kicked off his “Purpose World Tour” on March 9, 2016 in Seattle. He performed 67 shows in North America, including in Los Angeles, Miami and New York. He’s currently on tour in Europe. He’s slated to give 50 concerts there, including in Berlin, Paris and London. After some concerts in Australia, Bieber will then head to Latin America.
