Last week, Avenged Sevenfold released their latest album, The Stage, which was inspired in part by the writings of late scientist Carl Sagan. Now, the band has revealed that they have another big named scientist on the effort.
Neil DeGrasse Tyson can be heard on the last song on the set, "Exist." Singer M. Shadows told Rolling Stone that the track "came from the idea of wanting to replicate the Big Bang in a heavy metal sort of way," so who better to have on it than the world famous astrophysicist.
Shadows originally wanted to use an excerpt from Sagan's The Pale Blue Dot speech but Carl's estate wouldn't allow it. Instead, they recruited Tyson to lend his voice, telling him they hope to educate their fans with the song. Neil said, "If it's for education, let's do it."
You can hear Neil over the thrashing guitars and rocking drums in the last few minutes of the song. Pick up the band's new album, The Stage, today.
