Twitter is reacting to Zoe Saldana allegedly saying Hollywood bullied Donald Trump, which helped him win the 2016 election. See reaction tweets below.

In a new interview with AFP, Saldana makes clear she is not a Trump supporter, but is quoted as saying, “We got cocky and became arrogant and we also became bullies. We were trying to single out a man for all these things he was doing wrong… and that created empathy in a big group of people in America that felt bad for him and that are believing in his promises.” The outlet says she further offered, “I’m learning from [Trump’s victory] with a lot of humility. If we have people continue to be strong and educate ourselves and stand by equal rights and treat everyone with respect, we don’t go back to those times [of segregation].”

Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep for Saldana to confirm the quotes are accurate. On Saturday morning, the actress’ name became a trending topic on Twitter as many debated her reported remarks. Among those criticizing her was a user with the name @IKilledBecky, who said, “Zoe Saldana, so ur defending Donald Trump now, ur the exact opposite of what Nina Simone represented & this is why no 1 wanted u 2 play her.”

@johnny3Ko tweeted, “Zoe Saldana a bully is 1 who picks on a weaker person. A billionaire living in a penthouse who’s insulted everyone is the bully @zoesaldana.” @joeyuphigh7 commented, “Zoe Saldana says hollywood bullied Trump lol I didn’t know telling Trump what he NEEDS to hear was bullying. Trump IS bullying’s mascot.” @lalaxo__ similarly said, “I wouldn’t care about Zoe Saldana telling us to stop bullying Trump if the man wasn’t a huge buly himself.”

“zoe saldana telling everyone to stop bullying trump is almost a bigger joke than her role as nina simone,” sniped @travisG3L. @6ftEric asked, “Zoe Saldana.. what are you doing defending Trump?? She my number 1 celebrity crush but thats probably gonna change.” @JackDrees pointed out, “Zoe Saldana told people to stop bullying Trump. I can see where she’s coming from, but just a reminder, he’s been ENDLESSLY bullying people.”

@THEREALKING79th declared,”#ZoeSaldanaisoverparty Zoe Saldana was a cool person but this trump thing is getting to me so now she is over.” And, referring to Friday’s controversy over Steve Harvey meeting with Trump, @blerdsunite argued, “People like Steve Harvey and Zoe Saldana are currently in that ‘safe’ space, so their walk thru reality isn’t matching up with ours.”

But other Twitter users weren’t nearly as harsh, and expressed understanding and agreement. @ethanrih, for instance, wrote, “What Zoe Saldana said was right but as usual people don’t wanna read everything that she said.” @Lizzylissette posted, “I don’t see what Zoe Saldana said that was so bad. She wasn’t supporting him. People are reaching.”

“Zoe Saldana is just shouting out the Hollywood and Democrat hypocrisy. LMAO that you can’t handle the truth,” remarked @IsabellaElla08. @SturgeonQueens also urged, “Instead of hating on @ZoeSaldana, maybe think thru her thoughtful critique.” And @polaris01usa wondered, “Why is it that Zoe Saldana is not allowed to have an opinion that differs from the democrat message?”
