National Baseball Hall Of Fame Class Of 2017 Revealed

January 19, 2017

Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines and Ivan Rodriguez are heading to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.  The trio received the necessary 75-percent of the vote from the 442 ballots cast from the Baseball Writers Association of America.  The Class of 2017 will be inducted on July 30th.  Raines was on the ballot for the 10th and final time, while Rodriguez was on for the first time.  Bagwell received 86.2-percent of the vote, Raines got 86-percent and Rodriguez earned 76-percent.  Trevor Hoffman just missed out after receiving 74-percent of the vote.  Vladimir Guerrero earned 71.7-percent in his first year of eligibility.

The three join former MLB Commissioner Bud Selig and Braves vice chairman John Schuerholz, who were already voted in last month by the 16-member Today's Game Committee.  Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa fell short once again in their fifth year of eligibility.  Clemens received 54.1-percent of the vote, Bonds got 53.8-percent and Sosa earned just 8.6-percent.  All three had their careers clouded by steroid allegations.
