Frontman Dave Mustaine posted the news with the caption "Finally!" The band has been nominated for a Grammy twelve times before, including the discontinued "Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance" category.

Mustaine also spoke with Q1043's Jonathan Clarke, where the frontman joked that the thirteenth Grammy nomination could be the band's lucky number. "Thirteenth times a charm," he joked.

The other nominees for "Best Metal Performance" were:

Baroness - "Shock Me"

Gojira - "Slivera"

Korn - "Rotting in Vain"

Megadeth - "Dystopia"

Periphery - "The Price Is Wrong"
