Megadeth finally won the much-deserved Best Metal Performance award at the Grammys for "Dystopia", the title track of their 2016 album. The band has been nominated twelve times before taking home the award last night but the celebration was bittersweet as the Grammy house band performed Metallica's "Master Of Puppets" as the group went up to accept their award.
Frontman Dave Mustaine is one of Metallica's founding members before being kicked out of the band in 1983. Although there was bad blood between the two, they have both swept the feud under the rug for the Big 4 shows.
While playing "Master Of Puppets" may have been a clueless choice, Mustaine was a great sport and played air guitar while walking down the aisle to pick up the award.
He also had the perfect Tweet after fans commented on the flub. When someone said that it was a "slap in the face," Mustaine responded, "Ah, you can't blame 'em for not being able to play Megadeth." Bravo, Dave. Bravo!
