Lars Ulrich: We Were Talking About Making Lady Gaga A Permanent Member of Metallica

It should have worked. Lady Gaga is a huge fan of metal and her performance with Metallica of "Moth Into Flame" at the 2017 Grammys was going to be a highlight of the night. Unfortunately, it was plagued with technical issues. Frontman James Hetfield's mic was turned off at the beginning of the song and he was forced to share with Gaga, taking the initial steam out of the performance. Will this be the end of these two musical mega joining forces? According to Lars Ulrich, probably not.

Talking to Access Hollywood before the performance, Lars Ulrich spoke about their experience with Gaga. "When we were done with our rehearsal yesterday, my manager came up and said, 'This may be the heaviest song that's ever been played at the Grammys ever' — even heavier than the last four of five times Metallica."

He praised Gaga's work and jokingly hinted at making her a fixture of the group. "And now we've got a new lead singer — well, a new co-lead singer, is a better way of saying it — so we were talking earlier about maybe making her a permanent member of Metallica and being a five-piece from now on, so we'll see."
