Wow, we had no idea! BET's popular hit TV show "Being Mary Jane" is inspired by one very familiar, very successful journalist: Tamron Hall.
The addictive show's executive producer Mara Brock Akil revealed this in an interview with People. It turns out that Akil and Hall are very good friends. "Show writer-producer Mara Brock Akil, told People that she used Hall as the muse for Gabrielle Union career-driven character,' HipHollywood.com reports.
The famed producer who also created iconic TV shows like "Moesha," "The Jamie Foxx Show," "The Parkers," "Girlfriends," "The Game," and more also defended Hall's decision to leave "The Today Show" when her third hour got cut because of former Fox personality Megan Kelly's upcoming new show.
“She wasn’t going to settle for sitting on the sidelines. In the end she basically said thank you, but no thank you,” said Akil. “Tamron’s a woman of integrity, and she’s writing her own story."
