Candy Sales Prove To Be Recession Proof As Sales Rise

About one third of workers in America have a shared candy dish in the office. But there  is a deeper meaning behind it which can also determine the social environment of a work place. 

Most people make about 200 food decision in a day, most often motivated by boredom, habit, stress, and that need for a sugar rush.

Some reasons people ‘dish’ candy are simply to have some human interaction.  If you are the newbie in the office, it is a great way to break the ice. Others use it for networking in the office, according to George Mason University associate professor, Mandy O’Neill.  It is a way to break into a social circle.  Some managers also put out the candy dish to get conversations going that might not otherwise have occurred.
