A U.S. Department of Defense command post in Washington state issued a memo that banned playing music from Slipknot, Korn, Nickelback, Smash Mouth, and Creed. Geoffrey Ingersoll, a U.S. marine, posted the memo on his Twitter account that features the subject header at the top, "Banned Playing Of Terrible "Rock Groups".
The memo left many rock fans confused. While Nickelback and Creed serve as the punchline for every uninspired and hack comedy writer, the inclusion of Korn and Slipknot seems unfair.
Mike Trysom from US Army WTF! Moments, who posted the memo on Facebook, spoke with Huffington Post about the legitimacy of the order. “The term ‘real’ depends on your outlook," he says. "Do we really think this commander signed that memo as a lawful order? No, not at all. It was likely a joke or a prank he played on one of the platoons under his command."
“The memo is valid and in the right format– some of our commenters are not as smart as they think they are.”
