Martin Garrix "Scared To Be Lonely" Interview Photoshoot

Martin Garrix has a very big year ahead of him in 2017. Following the success of his collaboration with Bebe Rexha, "In The Name of Love," the 20-year-old producer/DJ released another awesome single called "Scared To Be Lonely" featuring Dua Lipa, which has reached the top ten on the US Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. With more new music on the way, Martin is also set to hit the festival circuit this year, performing at Coachella, Lollapalooza in Argentina, Chile, and Brazil, Ultra Music Festival, and Tomorrowland, among others. He is also joining Justin Bieber during select dates on the pop star's "Purpose World Tour," in addition to his summer residencies in Ibiza -- in short, there will be plenty of chances for fans to see Martin out on the road in 2017.

Speaking of Martin's fans, the Netherlands native caught up with some of his loyal Garrixers on Valentines Day via via the House Party app, which allows multiple people to video chat at the same time -- no "Scared to Be Lonely" feels here. Along with many compliments to Martin on taking the top spot on the annual Top 100 DJs poll, Martin and his fans chatted about seeing the DJ on tour, got to ask him questions, and more.

Martin Garrix Video Chat with Fans

You just got to video chat with a few of your fans from around the world. What was your favorite part of the whole thing?

"My favorite part from what just happened was it was nice meeting through there, but I love the fact that Bogdan [one of the fans] knew all the awards, and [they had] good energy."

Speaking of fans, they are very active on social media, and you can tell they are very dedicated. Do you have a favorite fan story?

"There's this is one really cool thing my fans did. It's called "Garrix Experience," and I read it. I read every single thing. They post their stories of how they met me or what their experience was [from] the shows. So I love being home, or when I'm in the studio, or I need some inspiration and motivation, I just go to the account, I check it and I read all these individual stories. It's really, really cool."

That's so sweet. Well, you have your single out with Dua Lipa, "Scared To Be Lonely." What does that song mean to you?

"To me, 'Scared To Be Lonely' is a very special song. I can relate to it a lot myself, lyrically. With this song, I tried to put so much emotion into it, [and] there's a lot of live instruments. We recorded real strings and I feel like as soon as the song starts, it takes you on a journey. I'm just very happy [and] very proud of the record."

What else do you have planned for the rest of the year?

"I've got so much in store. I have so much music, we're gonna [play] some crazy shows -- I'm really excited to perform at Coachella, Ultra Music Festival in Miami. I'm just very excited. I've got a lot of unreleased music ready that I'm going to test out on the road in the coming few months, and most importantly, I'm going to have a lot of fun. And I can't wait to meet all of the fans around the world."

Ultra is continuously a place where new music is often debuted. So, will your fans hear some of your new stuff there?

"One hundred percent. Every show in general, not only [at] Ultra and Coachella, but every show. I love to test out new music, look at the response, go back in the studio, polish it or make a new version, go back out on tour, test it again, go back. It's a very fun process and I love the fact that I can get real time feedback from the audience."
