2017 is going to hear a whole lot of Bea Miller and it all begins with "Song Like You," the focus track featured on the first installment of her four-part album release, which dropped on Thursday (February 23).
"Song Like You" was written by Miller on a subway ride in Brooklyn and is part of the narrative about a diminishing relationship. "A song like you would never tell me the truth/ It would turn me on, break me down, make me feel like there is nothing outside this room," she sings during the pre-chorus. The cut is featured on the first installment of her project called Chapter One: Blue. It'll be followed by Chapter Two: Red and Chapter Three: Yellow, which will bring three new cuts and videos to fans every three months until the final chapter surfaces in November.
“The theme of this project is very cohesive and based on the idea of how colors make you feel," the 18-year-old budding star said in a statement. "I see colors when I listen to music. I’ve always been very affected by color. It’s a way to communicate a more complex idea in a simple way that a wide range of people can understand.”
This year-long project will also serve as her full-length sophomore LP, with featured collaborations from Nick Jonas, Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter, Pop & Oak, amongst others. For that fourth and final installment, the collection will include nine of the previously-released cuts as well as three new tracks to complete the set.
