Tom Hiddleston was asked about his relationship with Taylor Swift on Tuesday’s “Today” show.
The actor was on the morning show to promote Kong: Skull Island, but after discussing the movie, Savannah Guthrie brought up Hiddleston’s GQ cover story in which he spoke about Swift. “Don’t kill me for asking, but, of course, it was asked about your relationship with Taylor Swift and I thought when I read it, I thought you gave really thoughtful answers,” she told him.
Guthrie went on, “And I wondered what it was like to go through all that and be in the public eye in that way. It must’ve been kind of disconcerting.” Hiddleston took a deep breath and then laughed, before hesitating over how to respond. He ultimately said, “I make a clear distinction between my work, which I absolutely dedicate myself to, which is for the public. I really believe in that relationship between an actor and the audience. You can’t call yourself an actor without the audience. And my private life is private.”
Guthrie responded, “Makes sense.” And that ended that line of questioning. Instead, the NBC anchor brought up Hiddleston’s interest in dancing, which, incidentally, he explored at the Met Gala with Swift last year. Check out the full interview above.
