As we all watch March Madness without the basketball Buckeyes, a reminder that D'Angelo Russell would have been a junior at OSU this year. Russell, in his second year in the NBA, continues to show signs that he will have a long and successful career. Anyone who watched the Cavs win over LA Sunday night witnessed it first hand.
Going head to head with Cleveland's Kyrie Irving, Russell was on fire and finished with a career high 40 points, splashing in seven 3-pointers. For much of the night, it looked like Russell's heroics were going to lead the struggling Lakers to an unexpected win over the NBA champs--but Irving and LeBron James wouldn't let it happen. The two combined for 80 points, Irving with 46 and James with 34--and the Cavs survived 125-100. Nonetheless, Russell was outstanding. Check out the highlights, Russell's post-game comments--and two other tweets that indicate just how special his night was.
