JAN ROSS, RIP

I went to Shaler Area High School with Jan Grillette. I didn’t know her. Huge enrollment. She was just another pretty girl I was scared of.

Years later, we ran into each other and she introduced herself: “We went to Shaler together! I’m married to J.R. now!”

“J.R.” = Jim Ross, the greatest wrestling announcer of all time. Which I wasn’t, but we’re friends anyway. A great man.

Jan Ross passed away yesterday after a traffic accident. She was 55.

Jan was Pittsburgh through and through. A rabid Steelers fan. A great lady who always made you feel at ease. Like you had known her your whole life.

Jan Ross, RIP. My sincerest condolences to her family and friends, and especially to Jim. Jan was one of a kind.
