(KFI) - Actor and romance book-cover magnate Fabio Lanzoni (who you likely only know as Fabio) joined the John and Ken show on KFI Monday afternoon to talk about why he says, "California's a mess."
The model-actor found himself fuming at recent decisions by the state including AB 109, Prop 47, and Prop 57 after his West Valley home was robbed of nearly $200,000 in valuables including watches and gold coins.
"When I looked into Prop 57 and (AB) 109, I said, this is pure madness!" he told John and Ken. "When you have a governor who takes the sides of the criminals instead of the PD, you know, the governor is the chief of law enforcement. You have the LAPD, you have highway patrol, you have the Sheriff's department, they're risking their lives every single day to put this criminals back where they belong.
"It was beautiful when they have Murphy's Laws, you know? Three strikes and you're out. Everybody was happy, the crime was low and everything. And of course, some politicians have to come along and change the laws. If it works? If it's not broken? Why fix it?"
Fabio blames the spate of robberies (25 homes in 10 days) in his neighborhood on legislation like AB 109, Prop 47, and Prop 57 which were legislative solutions passed by Sacramento and signed by Gov. Jerry Brown to help alleviate California's crowded prisons.
Celebrities including Yasiel Puig, Jaime Pressly, Nicki Minaj, Emmy Rossum, Alanis Morissette, and Nick Young are among the list of high-profile victims of the 'knock-knock' burglaries that have been sweeping Southern California.
Cities all over the state have been dealing with similar increases in property crime. San Francisco, along with 49 other cities in California all saw increases in property crime statistics in 2016.
"Politicians are not very good with numbers. It's the only thing in life, that they don't like. Two plus two equals four. But, for a politician, it's an opinion," Fabio said.
