Rihanna Is 'Tired' Of Fake News Stories Made Up About Her

Rihanna is “tired” of HollywoodLife making up fake news stories about her, Gossip Cop can exclusively report. We’re told she “doesn’t care” that much about what’s written about her, but she’s “tired of them [and others] pretending to know about her when they don’t,” an insider tells us.

A source says there wasn’t any particular tipping point, but when it was brought to her attention how Google searches for her name result in two conflicting reports about how alternately she wants to “link up” with Chris Brown and “why she won’t take him back,” she told a mutual pal that she’s over the way how websites that “don’t know anything” about her make up fake stories about her personal life. Gossip Cop feels her pain. We routinely correct fabricated articles about Rihanna and others, but seemingly the fibbers have duped their readers, other outlets that don’t fact-check and clearly search engines.

As Gossip Cop always says, time ultimately separates what’s legitimate and what’s a lie. So, let’s look back over the years and examine the record of HollywoodLies, as it’s known because of its habit of publishing manufactured stories. Six years ago, the website reported that Rihanna was dating Colin Farrell, and the two were getting so serious that he was going to introduce her to her kids. Anyone remember them dating? Yeah, total lie.

Or how about that concocted story about how Rihanna and Katy Perry were going to mock Taylor Swift’s 2014 MTV EMAs performance. HollywoodLies said it had specifics about how Rihanna was going to “talk all the way through [Swift’s] performance and make fun of her dance moves.” One slight problem: The webloid never checked to see if Swift was scheduled to sing at the MTV EMAs. As Gossip Cop reported at the time, not only wasn’t Swift performing at the awards show, but she wasn’t even going to be within miles of its venue. Yeah, total lie.

And then last year, HollywoodLies had an exclusive about how Rihanna was warning (her former nemesis) Swift about dating Drake. Of course, as Gossip Cop noted, Swift and Drake never dated and the supposed advice from Rihanna was all just a giant lie from the repeatedly discredited outlet.

All those HollywoodLife stories were debunked by Gossip Cop and, with the passage of time, further proven to be fabricated. So, does Rihanna want to “link up” with Chris Brown or does she now suddenly have a reason “why she won’t take him back”? The originator of those fiction pieces certainly doesn’t know. In fact, they’re so lazy with their reporting they used the same photo for their conflicting articles.

So why, when the site has been caught so many times making up articles, would other outlets link to them or search engines treat them as an authority? Sadly, with all the fact-checking we do, we can’t get an answer on that. Gossip Cop reached out to a rep for Rihanna to comment on the contradictory articles about the singer that inexplicably dominate searches for her name, but we have yet to hear back.
