We hung out with K-Pop superstars EXO backstage at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ right before their "Exo Planet 3 – The Exo'rdium" concert. The members talked to us about their 5 year anniversary as a group, American fans, what to expect from their next comeback and more. Read our interview with EXO below:
On the 5 year anniversary of their debut
Suho: “We can’t believe it. These last 5 years have all been happy ones. Our debut showcase in particular is memorable because it was the first day for us. The beginning of EXO’s history is the most memorable.”
Chanyeol: “For our 5 year anniversary, there were ads on the billboard in Times Square. When we heard about it, the first thought we had was ‘Ah, I really want to go there.’ And we heard about the ads in Times Square not only from our fans but also from our friends and our sunbaes (‘senior artists’). We felt so happy and thankful.”

If you were introducing EXO to someone for the first time, what song(s) would you choose?
Chen: "I personally would like to recommend the song ‘Monster.’ It’s a song that I think show’s EXO’s colors very well."
Chanyeol: “I personally would like to recommend the song ‘Growl’. We started to receive a lot of love starting from the period that song was released. It’s a genre that all people can enjoy listening to and because it’s good.”
Everyone is waiting for your comeback, can you give us a hint about what it’s going to be like? What’s the ‘color’?
Baekhyun: “White.”
Suho: (laughs) “I think [they’re] a bit surprised because you said the color was white.”
Baekhyun: “Well, it’s because we haven’t started to prepare anything yet. We haven’t added any color yet. We are at a place where any color can be added.”
What is the biggest difference between your fans in America and your fans in Asia?
Baekhyun: "I feel the way they express themselves is really good. Their reactions are really good and big. When we perform, the energy they give us is bigger. It's very different!"
Suho: "In Mexico, for example, they throw their underwear."
Chanyeol: "They (overseas fans) aren’t as shy."
What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue music?
Suho: If you want to become a singer, in order to achieve your dream, taking the first step is very important. Don’t be shy! Accept the challenge.
Can you send a message to your American fans?
Chanyeol: (in English) I love you!
Suho: (in English) Thank you for your love.
