INTERVIEW: Shawn Hook & Vanessa Hudgens Comment On Their Throwback Photos

Shawn Hook is back with a brand new single called "Reminding Me," and has teamed up with Vanessa Hudgens on the addictive new pop ballad. The song was co-written by Shawn, songwriter Jonas Jeberg and Ethan Thompson (from Ocean Park Standoff), and is the lead single from his forthcoming new studio album. 

On the meaning behind his new single with Vanessa, Shawn tells iHeartRadio, "I wrote 'Reminding Me' a year ago, and it's a song about moving on from a relationship, and realizing that maybe you should've taken time to get over your relationship rather than jumping into something. And it's about that person reminding you about what you really had."

Vanessa came into the mix thanks to a mutual friend of her and Shawn's, and after she heard the song, she immediately wanted to be a part of it. She tells us, "A mutual friend played me 'Reminding Me,' and I heard it and I was like, 'This is a hit. I would love to be a part of this song.'"

Shawn adds, "She delivered."

Speaking of "Reminding Me," there's nothing quite like being reminded of some of the great throwback pics one posts on social media. So we decided to remind Shawn and Vanessa of some of their own #TBTs from their respective Instagram accounts, and the results are hilarious.

Shawn: "It looks like you went to school, and you had a Capri Sun juice box, and your friend stole it, and you're really upset about it. But whoever your teacher is, is like, 'Hey, it's okay. You can have this.' And I'm not sure what she's giving you, but ... that's what's happening, right?"

Vanessa: "No, this is really ... it's community theater. And it's a production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. And I wanted to play Esmeralda, but no one could sing the parts of Quasimodo, so I was the hunchback. And that is my little, hunchback self."

Vanessa: "What is this? WHO is this person? Okay, this is Shawn's evil twin, I think. And he decided to do a post to tell the world that he unfortunately passed away. What is this? Who are you?!"

Shawn: "I used to have quite the flow back in the day."

Vanessa: "Well, no, we were like, 'Let's take a picture before we head off into the carpet.' Because we rode together. And, yeah, I don't know. She just got the good lighting. She's like perfectly blown out. She looks like an angel. And that is my caption. 'I'm obviously sitting with an angel.'"

Vanessa: "Okay. Oh, wow! This is his other twin brother. He has many twin brothers, and this one is a vampire.

Shawn: "That's my alter ego. Every now and then."

Shawn: "No, I just went out one night. I was just kind of feeling it. Yes, this is Halloween. That was at some party."

Vanessa: "Yeah, 'cause I lost my lunch boxes all the time. This is my mom's Chiquita banana costume, and she wore it, like, every year."

Shawn: "You still have flare, like back then you're just like, 'yeah.' You owned it."

Vanessa: "Oh my gosh, I was the sassiest little child. Like shy, but when the camera turned on I was such a ham."

Shawn: "I must've been on another promo [tour] ... yeah, that's when I was doing the morning promo show in DC."

Shawn: "Whoa, mermaids! So these mermaids washed ashore. This was probably in Malibu? And, you were just out for a swim."

Vanessa: "Yep, my alter ego is a mermaid. When I'm submerged in water, that's what I turn into. I'm like Ariel's sister. A lot of people don't know that about me. No, that's ... me and one of my best friends, we were doing Project Mermaids. It's one of her girlfriend's [charities], and she has a whole set up for this charity. I think it's called 'Save the Ocean.' But yeah, every girl's dream is to be a mermaid."
