2017 Billboard Music Awards: Camila Cabello Hits All The Marks With Debut Solo Performance

May 22, 2017

Camila Cabello had a lot riding on the 2017 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night (May 21) when she stormed the stage for her debut solo performance without any folks by her side. No Machine Gun Kelly. No Pitbull. And, more significantly, no Fifth Harmony bandmates.

Thankfully, the budding pop star hit all the right marks for her set, which was presented by Ashley Tisdale and G-Eazy. "Crying in the Club," which was co-written by Cabello, Sia and Benny Blanco, hears the star singing about dancing away her pain and that is exactly what she did during her energetic set.

It all kicked off with the singer rising from the ground to sing her mega-ballad, "I Have Questions." It amped up the dramatics but also heard Cabello pushing her own vocal perimeters to fantastic ends. Shortly afterward, the stage abruptly went black and revealed a fiery set with background dancers. After ripping off her oversized dress, the singer revealed a sparkling gold mini-dress and went on to deliver a choreographed dance break and, of course, plenty of ad-libs.
