Steve Martin Talks About Being A Father At 71

It may have taken him a while, but Steve Martin is taking to be a dad. The comedian welcomed a daughter four-years-ago when he was 67 and his wife was 45.

According to Martin, it was the best timing. “…If I’d had a child earlier," he explains, "I would have been a lousy father, because I would have misplaced my attention on my career." 

Martin goes on to explain that his life is "very, very happy" now. “I mean, it’s actually the perfect shape of a life,” he adds. “Except the hard parts in the beginning — the disharmony, panic, pain, with occasional moments of great moments and comedy success.”
