Today (June 20), the world learned that we lost one of the realest hip hop figures in the game. Prodigy of Mobb Deep died, XXL reports.

The rap world can't believe that Prodigy has left us. He was just performing over the weekend in Las Vegas. In fact, that's where the rapper still was when he died. TMZ reports: "His publicist says he was hospitalized 'a few days ago in Vegas after a Mobb Deep performance for complications caused by a sickle cell anemia crisis. As most of his fans know, Prodigy battled the disease since birth.'"

We still aren't sure of his illness was the cause for his death. Since this sad news broke, hip hop have been reacting on social media. Read some responses to Prodigy's passing below.

@prodigymobbdeep Man we made great songs together. I shot ya and Queens is. We had great conversations. I remember speaking to you a few months ago and congratulating you on your career longevity. You and @mobbdeephavoc touring, your book projects and other things. I remember giving you that skull tee shirt back in the day and how excited you were. Just know you truly inspired me as an artist. Little guy with one of the hardest flows and coolest voices. I just want your family to know how loved respected and special you were and are. Rest easy King. I love you man. @santanafox @natachagram 📸@armenexpo #prodigy #mobbdeep #havoc #rip @mobbdeephavoc if you need me don't hesitate to reach out. Love you bro. Stay strong 💪🏾

I got you stuck off the realness... First time I heard/saw Mobb Deep was the Shook Ones video and I instantly connected bcuz not only did they sound authentic to OUR streets that I was on but they looked like US too. Whether it was shooting videos in the projects wit they niggas holding gallons of Henny or chilling on Housing Projects benches or riding in Acura Legend's wearing bandana's, me being a young NYC kid from the Projects at the time they spoke our language & was the REALNESS!! Prodigy's unorthodox flow & aggressive (without raising his voice) cadence was one of the illest in the game. When he said "rock you in ya face, stab ya brain wit ya nose bone" you felt it!! I got so many memories from riding to school for months listening to The Infamous album to being in The Tunnel nightclub when @funkflex played Quiet Storm & Queens would go crazy!! Damn!! RIP to our fallen soldier, the legend Prodigy aka P aka H.N.I.C. Sleep in Paradise! 🙏🏾
