Freak Baseball Injury Leaves Teen Fighting for Life

It was a freak accident on the baseball field, and one that seemed relatively harmless at first.
But 15-year-old Jason Lockhart—son of former Atlanta Braves player Keith Lockhart—ended up on life support and faces more surgery this week, reports Fox Atlanta. His family says that during a game on June 17, Jason was crossing home plate to score a run when the catcher accidentally hit him in the face while throwing the ball back to the pitcher.
Jason suffered a broken nose and needed stitches, but the situation worsened unexpectedly the following Monday. During a follow-up visit to the doctor, Jason's nose began bleeding profusely, and doctors couldn't stop it.
