Defense Secretary Jim Mattis say U.S. troops will keep a forward presence in Eastern Europe through 2020.

Speaking in Germany earlier today at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, Mattis said the move continues a commitment to Europe's security made following World War II.  U.S. troops in the east are carrying out training exercises with other NATO alliance troops to react quickly to threats should the need arise.
