Newborn Golden Retriever Puppy Comes Out Green

By Dave Basner

Golden Retrievers get their name from the color of their fur, but one just born in Scotland didn't come out gold - it came out green!

The puppy was one of a litter of nine but was the only one to come out green. Apparently, the rare coloring, which has only been documented three other times, was from exposure to biliverdia, a green bile pigment in the placenta. It should fade in a few weeks but it still inspired the pup's name - Forest.
