A salmonella outbreak in 16 states is being linked to laboratories.  The CDC says, since March, 24 people have been infected with a strain of salmonella found in microbiology labs.  Six of those people were hospitalized, but no deaths were reported.

The infections occurred in college, commercial and clinical laboratories, and affected people ages 57 to less than a year old.  The salmonella was found in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Texas and Washington.  Salmonella can cause diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps.
