Watch Pentatonix Cover Robyn's 'Dancing On My Own'
August 2, 2017
Even seven years since its release, Robyn's "Dancing on My Own" still lives on strong. Just last week, Ashley Tisdale and Lea Michele covered the pop gem during the former's "Music Sessions" series. Now, Pentatonix have offered their rendition on the 2010 single.
Pentatonix's performance is certainly a sweet version, which doesn't particularly stray away from the somberness of the original. Still, it feels a little more cinematic with Kevin Olusola and his signature celloboxing skills and the remaining bandmates' gorgeous harmonizing. In the caption for the video, Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado and Olusola shared a note with their fans, thanking them for the ongoing love and support after Avriel Benjamin "Avi" Kaplan, the bass vocalist of the act, announced his departure from the a capella group in mid-May.
"We just wanted to take a minute to thank you all for your ongoing love and support. It means the world to all of us!" they wrote. "'Dancing On My Own' is one of our favorite songs (by Robyn who is one of our favorite artists) and we’re so very proud to share it with you. We hope you love it as much as we do and we’re excited to share new music (and more) with you very, very soon. We love you! ❤️ PTX"
