Three years later and Jay-Z is finally breaking his silence on #elevatorgate.

As fans well remember, the rapper made headlines after elevator surveillance footage leaked on the internet of him getting in a heated argument with his wife Beyonce’s sister Solange Knowles the night of the Met Gala in 2014.

"We had one disagreement ever. Before and after we’ve been cool,” Jay-Z told Rap Radar hosts Elliott Wilson and Brian “B.Dot” Miller. “She’s like my sister. I will protect her. That’s my sister, not my sister-in-law. My sister. Period.”.

The 4:44 rapper added: “We’ve always had a great relationship. I fought with my brothers and argued with my brothers my whole life. It just so happens, who we are, these things go into a different space. But it ain’t nothing.”

Although the pair have since mended their relationship, there’s been speculation that Jay-Z’s new album, 4:44, refers to the now infamous moment. The address of the hotel rooftop bar, Le Bain, where the incident occurred is 444 West 13th Street
