Watch 'Sesame Street' Take On Luis Fonsi's 'Despacito' In New Parody
August 24, 2017
Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee have taken over the charts this summer with "Despacito," but the global smash has official reached new territory as its been covered by Sesame Street for a new parody featuring Ernie and his Rubber Duckie.
In the two-minute parody, which was released earlier this week, Ernie finds the plastic toy on the beach and begins his adoration for his little pal. "El patito/ That's spanish for Rubber Duckie!" he sings during the pre-hook. "Oh, el patito, es mi favorito/ Donde quiera que vaya hace su sonido/ El patito es tu buen amigo/ El patito." But it's not just Ernie, who is in on the mix. Bert and Rosita also join him for the Spanish-language song, which includes a melody similar to "Despacito."
"El Patito" is an adorable nod to Ernie's classic, "Rubber Duckie," which premiered during the first season of Sesame Street in 1970. It even reached the top 20 tier of the Billboard Hot 100.
