T.I. took to social media to blast Pastor Joel Osteen for taking too long to open his church doors to Houston residents who needed shelter because of Hurricane Harvey.
On Wednesday (Aug. 30) morning, Osteen appeared on Today show to discuss the reason he didn't open his megachurch sooner. The pastor simply said because the city of Houston didn't ask him to. βIf people were here, theyβd realize there were safety issues,β Osteen said on TV. βWe were just being pre-cautious, but the main thing is the city didnβt ask us to become a shelter then.β
Frustrated with Osteen's delay to help people who needed food and shelter in his church, T.I. snapped. On Instagram, the rapper captioned someone's video of the disaster: βThis is why people (like me) donβt trust the mega churches. How can someone (especially a so called man of God) make 70+Ms a yr TAX FREE from citizens of a city thatβs now in distress & in dyer need of food water & shelter NOT OPEN THE DOORS OF GODs HOUSE (supposedly) to help those in need?β
Even though Osteen has tried to rectify the situation, it looks like the damage has already been done. Check out Tip's entire message below.
