Later 'Joanne': Lady Gaga Is Already Working On Her Next Album

August 31, 2017

Lady Gaga is early into her "Joanne World Tour," but the pop titan is already in a new head space as she's already working on the follow-up to Joanne. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Mother Monster revealed that she's already started the writing process for the project.

"I have a lot of ideas and a lot of things I want to create, so you’ll see in a bit. I need some time to create," the 31-year-old told the outlet, before defending the critical reception of Joanne.

"You have to be sure about who and what you are, and have that be the most important thing," the chart-topper admitted. "If every time somebody has a comment about what to do or makes a statement about your work, if you shift as if the wind were blowing, [then] you have no perspective or spinal cord as an artist."

Later in the discussion, Gaga explained that all of her albums have always stayed true to her identity. "Every single one of my albums — no matter if they were received with critical acclaim, commercial acclaim, or artistic acclaim — every time I plant my feet further into myself, and that is what I believe to be honorable as an artist," she said. "You fall on the sword always. It's your work, and when I make my work, there's a reason and I think about it and I love it, and that's what matters."

In the meantime, simply cross your fingers that we'll hear bits of some of her new material when Gaga drops her original Netflix documentary, Gaga: Five Foot Two, on September 22.
