Oakland's first LGBTQ Community Center is now open.  The East Bay Gay Men's Chorus highlighted last night's grand opening of the center on Lakeshore Avenue.  Mayor Libby Schaaf cut the ribbon for the center that provides services including mental health, substance abuse counseling, and transgender advocacy.  The center is operating with 200 volunteers until it raises enough money to start hiring staff.

The AIDS Health Care Foundation donated $10,000 last night and Oakland Pride donated $1,000.
