At the age of 15, Charlene Medlicott was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries. The condition restricted her ovulation and reduced her chances of getting pregnant. Doctors told Charlene it would be unlikely for her to ever conceive naturally.
But several years later, Charlene left doctors completely stunned when she and her partner, Mark, did conceive naturally. Charlene was pregnant at the age of 19.
When Charlene and Mark went in for their six-week prenatal scan, they realized the surprises were only getting started. Doctors discovered there were two babies inside the same sac — but there was also a different sac inside her womb.
This meant Charlene was pregnant with not one set of twin girls… but two!
The couple was shocked, and the doctors were worried. Since this type of pregnancy can be very risky, they suggested she abort two of the babies to give the other two a better chance of survival. However, Charlene and Mark refused to terminate any of the babies.
Gracie-Lou, Rosaline, Amalia-Rose, and Eveylynn were all born healthy in December 2011.
At first, it was believed that the two sets of twins were identical. But when Mark realized he couldn’t tell his daughters apart, DNA revealed all four girls are all actually identical to one another!
This made Charlene Britain’s youngest mother of identical quadruplets. Simply incredible.
