INJOFormer Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton reminded Americans of the respectful posture to take during the national anthem Thursday.

At the start of the 2017 Presidents Cup, all three former commanders in chief stood with their hands on their hearts while country singer Darius Rucker sang “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Thursday's event at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey, marks the first public appearance by the former U.S. leaders since dozens of NFL players knelt during the national anthem over the weekend.

Golf Channel announcer Mike Tirico indicated “The Star-Spangled Banner” is not frequently played before golf matches, but an exception was made Thursday because the “national anthem in sports has been in the news.”
