EIGHT New Suburbs Coming To Western Sydney
October 3, 2017
Eight new suburbs have been created for western Sydney as Blacktown Council reveal finalised rezoning plans.
The changes will see existing boundaries moved and the areas renamed in an effort to prepare Blacktown for a raft of new Metro stations opening from 2019 and to accommodate its ever-soaring population.
According to the Blacktown Advocate, Marsden Park's Elara Estate will be divided under the plans to create new suburb "Lynch", something that residents claim will negatively impact their quality of living.
"We don't want this change... all the amenities are now in the Marsden Park suburb, we have nothing, only a park," local Arpan Baxi said.
"We are first home buyers here and this is going to affect our house prices."
But Labour councillor Chris Quilkey said that close to 6,000 people had given their opinion on the proposals.
"Most of these people I think will be satisfied with what we are proposing," he said. "As decision makers we make decision makers."
The plans have now been sent to the Geographical Names Board, who will determine the final names.
