Trump Wants Hardline Measures in Return for DACA Deal

The "deal" with President Trump on DACA that top Democrats spoke of last month is still very much a work in progress—and the two sides are so far apart that it might not happen at all. 

In a list of "principles" released by the White House Sunday night, the Trump administration called for hard-line immigration measures to "mitigate" granting legal status to Dreamers, including funding the border wall, hiring 10,000 new ICE agents, and cracking down on unaccompanied minors arriving in the US illegally, reports Reuters.

 The proposals "live up to the president's campaign commitment to have an immigration system that puts the needs of hardworking Americans first," a senior administration official says.
