White House Says Check Sent to Grieving Military Family

The check is in the mail.  That's how the White House responded yesterday after the father of a fallen soldier told the "Washington Post" that President Donald Trump offered his family $25,000.  Chris Baldridge said Trump made the offer during a phone call after the death of his 22-year-old son in Afghanistan in June.  He told the paper the money never arrived.  A White House spokeswoman said yesterday the check has been sent and accused the media of using the "generous and sincere gesture" to advance their "biased agenda."

It's the latest incident involving the President's response to families who have lost loved ones in military service.
