(Toledo, OH) An incumbent Toledo city councilman up for re-election gets arrested following a confrontation with a local activist.

33-year old Julian Mack is accusing 68-year-old Toledo City Councilman Larry Sykes of punching him and grabbing him by the neck after the two exchanged words.

Social media posts indicate both were attending a political candidate talent show at a downtown Toledo bar. Sykes is charged with assault and police say there's video evidence of the altercation. But a campaign manager for Sykes claims no punches were thrown.

Sykes has been in elected public office for two decades, as both a councilman and a TPS school board member. Mack is part of Black Lives Matter. Both men are African-American.
