Selena Quintanilla’s sister Suzette phoned in to On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Friday, November 3, to celebrate the late singer being honored this evening with her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a proclamation marking November 3rd as “Selena Day” in the city of Los Angeles.

“I really feel that right now is the perfect time for this to be happening," Suzette shared. "With all the millennials that are helping embrace her and carry her legacy to this day 22 years later is amazing and beautiful."

Selena died on March 31, 1995, in Corpus Christi, Texas, after being shot by Yolanda Saldivar, the founder of the Selena fan club.

“We just want [people] to remember her as a person," Suzette added of her sister. "She represents so much for us as Latinas and to just be yourself. It’s true that the impossible is always possible … that was one of her favorite sayings.”

Actress Eva Longoria, who grew up in Quintanilla's hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas, will play master of ceremony on Friday during the unveil. Longoria will also join the mayor of Los Angeles Eric Garcetti and help proclaim November 3 as "Selena Day."
