In a rare statement on social media, JAY-Z offered some words of support and spoke out against Meek Mill's 2-year-minimum prison sentence for violating his probation, calling it "unjust and heavy handed."
"The sentence handed down by the Judge -- against the recommendation of the Assistant District Attorney and Probation Officer -- is unjust and heavy handed," Hov wrote in a statement on Facebook. "We will always stand by and support Meek Mill, both as he attempts to right this wrongful sentence and then in returning to his musical career."
A Philadelphia judge ruled Meek violated probation from his 2009 drug and weapons case after a reckless driving arrest in New York City and getting busted in a fight in a St. Louis airport. Both cases were eventually dropped but the judge deemed the arrests as violations.
Kevin Hart, T.I., Snoop Dogg, DJ Envy, are more all gave words of hope and support for Meek after news broke of his prison sentence.
