If there's a fashion goddess looking down on this world, she's for sure blessing the 2018 Met Gala.
On Nov. 8, Vogue, the official partner for the Met Gala, announced and confirmed that May's 2018 Met Gala theme will be "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination."
"Designed to create a dialogue between fashion and the masterworks of religious art in the museum’s holdings, the show will be presented in a trinity of locations: the Anna Wintour Costume Center, the medieval galleries at the Met’s Fifth Avenue location, and further uptown at the Cloisters," Vogue wrote. "Central to the conversation will be the papal garb on loan from the Sistine Chapel sacristy, many of which have never been seen outside the Vatican."
The controversial religious experience does not stop there, though. As with any Met Gala, it must have its hosts, and this year Wintour has chosen a powerful trifecta: Rihanna, Amal Clooney and Donatella Versace.
In 2016 Rihanna made news at the "China Through the Looking Glass" themed gala when she wore an Alice in Wonderland-inspired yellow gold satin and fur gown designed by Guo Pei. And in 2017 the Fenty Beauty phenom wore a feathery Comme de Garcon confection custom made by the night's honoree, Rei Kawakubo.
The Met Gala will be on April 30, 2018.
