It's good to be in Metallica.
The biggest heavy metal band of all-time continues to rake in millions on tour, as evidenced by the band's 2017 WorldWired tour in North America which grossed over $100 million.
That figure was reported by Metalsucks.net, which has been closely following the band's earnings this year.
In 20 of the band's 25 North American shows, Metallica earned over $93 million. The band's lowest grossing show from the dates for which there is data is a little under $2 million, which means the real figure is probably close to $105 million or more.
Metallica began its 2017 WorldWired tour cycle in Asia and South America. It just wrapped up the first leg of its European tour and will return to Europe in early 2018. So we're pretty sure James, Lars and the guys will all be able to pay their mortgages.
While Metalsucks points out that its figures are based on ticket sales alone, and don't take into account the band's expenses, those figures also don't take merch sales into account. And judging by the number of Metallica shirts you can see in the crowd at any Metallica show, that's probably an awfully big number too.
