Eddie Montgomery Opens Up About Troy's Death

Eddie Montgomery says that when his singing partner and friend of 30 years Troy Gentry died, a little piece of his own soul went with him.

Eddie has just opened up to People about the helicopter crash that took his buddy's life. He says, “It was a horrific day, my world changed as much as the band did. It’s something that you never get over. It’s going to be in my mind and my soul for the rest of my life.”

He says he and Troy would talk about what would happen if one of them died -- but Eddie thought he would be the one to go first. 

He'll continue making music and honor Troy's memory. “I’ve never done anything else but play music. It’s all I’ve ever known. He was more than just a singer. He was a brother and he was always there. As far as I’m concerned, we’re still making music together.”

The duo's last album together, Here's to You, comes out on February 2nd.
