Watch RHCP’s Chad Smith Chew Out Fan Who Yells ‘Will Ferrell’ at Him

Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith's individual notoriety has taken off over the past few years after people started realizing his stunning resemblance to actor/comedian Will Ferrell.

So it's understandable that Smith was a little ticked off when a fan at a recent Musicians Institute Clinic interrupted him to yell "Will Ferrell."   

After pausing and then screaming "Shut up!" at the fan, Smith stormed off stage, only returning when the crowd began chanting his name—his real name.

The drummer sat back down at his kit and addressed the fan, who sheepishly identified himself. 

"Why did you say that?" Smith asked the fan. "I'm not Will Ferrel, you idiot!"

He continued, downplaying the display of rage.

"I don't give a s--t. I think it's great. I'm f---ing famous because of Will Ferrell. F--k that guy. I was in, like, an OK rock band for a while and then that idiot said, 'Hey, I look like you...!'"

Smith had been the drummer for one of the most successful rock bands in the world for about 20 years before people started making the comparisons between his face and that of the comic megastar.

"Next thing I know, people on the street at like 'Hey, man, you're really funny.'"

Smith then continued the set where he left off. Watch the full exchange above. 

Whether Smith actually gets frustrated by the comparisons to Ferrell isn't clear, but nobody likes being heckled.
