The White House unveiled their annual Christmas decorations this week. Many commenters online complimented the tinseled White House designed by the First Lady. However, like all things Trump, there was invariably controversy.
There was no shortage of charming, Christmas-y photographs from the interior of the White House:
However, commenters seized on this photo in particular:
The holidays are upon us!! Right now: flotus is seeing to every last detail here at the @WhiteHouse pic.twitter.com/TglHYDVUx1

The photo and accompanying memes were called everything from “satanic” to a “horror show.”
Many major outlets covered that people were finding her decorations “creepy.”
Vox: “Angelic or horrific?”
Daily Beast: “Nightmare before Christmas.”
New Yorker: “Wicked Queen”
Twitter was just as merciless:
I scrolled by this photo of actual White House holiday decorations four times before I realized it was not from a production of Macbeth pic.twitter.com/yUOVYsCAuD
