World War II Vet Heads To Washington On Honor Flight

92-Year-Old WW II Veteran Julian Syphax heads to Washington D.C. on an honor flight

World War II veteran Julian Syphax cheered and saluted, as he set off on a "final mission" to Washington, D.C. for an Honor Flight, to visit the nation's capital. On his trip, the 91-year-old will visit the Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetary, in addition to a private meet-and-greet with senator Marco Rubio.
Syphax joined the U.S. Navy when he was 17, and served in the the Pacific Theatre. Following the war, Syphax was one of the first African-American Lieutenants in the history of the Arlington, Virginia Fire Department, and also worked at the Pentagon.
The Honor Flight is taking off on the eve of the somber 76th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack, and the U.S. entering World War II.
